OpenFront Tools Hub
Gold tables, shared Port/Factory counters, first-atom 1.75M plans, and the 1–0 hotkey row.
This hub is a lookup desk, not another essay. When a lobby is live you need numbers and keys, not a story about why Cities are nice. Two pages sit under it:
- Gold costs — structure prices, the shared Port/Factory counter, nuke prices, the 1.75M first-Atom plan, and SAM versus Hydrogen math.
- Hotkeys — default 1–0 bindings and the rest of the cheatsheet. Prose about when to press them lives in controls.
Keep both tabs open. Gold tells you whether the next click is legal. Keys tell you how to make that click before the border moves.
What belongs on a tools page
OpenFront is a free browser RTS at openfront.io. Matches still ask you to spend gold under a clock: ~80% non-fallout land to win, Overtime after minute 30 in FFA, troop growth peaking near 42% of cap. v33 added Doomsday Clock land-share waves, Ranked 2v2, and interceptable MIRV warheads. None of that helps if you cannot remember whether the next Factory is 250k or 500k because you already built a Port.
Tools pages therefore print:
- Cost steps and caps, not vibes.
- Shared counters called out in bold so you do not double-buy a 125k myth.
- Key rows that match the live client (City on 1 through MIRV on 0).
- Links out to strategy pages when the number is not enough.
They do not reprint the full building tier list or nukes walkthrough. If you catch this hub growing a 600-word pep talk, you are on the wrong page — jump to guides or the Tier List Hub.
Gold path in one screen
Memorize four clusters, then use the table page for the rest:
- City / Port / Factory step 125k → 250k → 500k → 1M. City is independent. Port and Factory share n.
- Defense Post 50k then +50k to a 250k cap. 30 tiles. Not stacked. Destroyed on capture.
- Silo 1M, Atom 750k, Hydro 5M, MIRV 25M + 15M × n. First Atom plan 1.75M.
- SAM 1.5M then 3M. Warship 250k / 500k / up to 1M.
If you only remember one sentence: do not start a Silo unless the Atom gold is also in the bank, unless a teammate is funding the warhead. SAM versus Hydro is a race against 5M and a ~30-second SAM build, not a philosophy debate. Details and worked examples: gold costs.
Keys path in one screen
Default number row:
1 City · 2 Factory · 3 Port · 4 Defense Post · 5 Silo · 6 SAM · 7 Warship · 8 Atom · 9 Hydrogen · 0 MIRV
Arm with the key, left-click the tile. Double-tap 8 for an x5 Atom batch when tubes are loaded. Hydrogen and MIRV stay x1 from the key. Remaps live in Settings. The printable grid is hotkeys. If you want the why-and-when, that is controls, not this hub.
How these tools connect to the rest of the wiki
- Spending order in FFA versus teams versus islands: building tiers and map archetypes.
- Placement, capture rules, and rail stops: buildings.
- Yield, SAM intercepts, v33 MIRV flight: nukes.
- Patch that made MIRV warheads interceptable: v33.
- Steam client, editions, wishlist: Steam Early Access.
Print or pin gold costs for the numbers and hotkeys for the keys. Come back to this hub only when you forgot which of those two pages you wanted — that is the whole job of a lookup index.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common OpenFront questions.
What is the first Atom Bomb plan in gold?
1,000,000 for the Missile Silo plus 750,000 for the Atom Bomb, 1.75 million total. The Silo does not include a free warhead. Worked notes are on gold costs.
Do Port and Factory share a price counter?
Yes. The first of either type is 125k; the next in the pair is 250k, then 500k, then 1M. City uses the same step sizes but its own counter.
Where is the 1–0 hotkey list?
Is this hub a replacement for the building guide?
No. Tools print numbers and keys. Buildings and the building tier list explain when those numbers are a good idea.
Does SAM out-price a Hydrogen Bomb?
First SAM is 1.5M, second 3M (4.5M for two). Hydro is 5M. Two finished SAMs can be cheaper than one Hydro, but only if they complete before impact. See gold costs and nukes.
